Around the World for the 1st time [Day 27] Los Angeles
Hopping bus tour of Beverly Hills mansions
We like to see the ‘so-called famous landscapes’ once and be content with saying ‘I’ve seen it, I’m done with it’. When you love something like Rapa Nui, you’ll go back again and again, and you can’t do a group tour around a predetermined course. Today we took a hopping bus to see that ‘so-called Hollywood’. But it is cold! It’s strange to be wearing a thick jumper when I am tanned black in the southern hemisphere in the middle of summer.
Tom Cruise’s House
The bus drives through the upmarket neighbourhoods of Beverly Hills. The guide explains every step of the way: ‘This is the home of -‘. This is Tom Cruise’s home. In front of his house is a roundabout, and tourist buses can also come here. Dozens of surveillance cameras are positioned on both sides of the road, and it seems that waving at these cameras is a promise. If you look at the aerial photo above my house, it is now a castle.
Michael Jackson’s House
Michael’s house was also there. So it’s not just Neverland. But each house is huge. We rode the hopping bus for four hours. The announcement said, “Please tip the driver $20”, but I wondered why another tip when I paid the fare? I wondered, and gave only $10. Dinner was steak.
